Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Seal ‘n Lock collects through sealnlock.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers this website and our online store. It does not cover information you give a distributor or a training partner directly.

At a glance

The short version.

A summary, not a substitute. The full text below is what actually applies.

We do not sell your data

We share personal information only where it is needed to run the business: payment, shipping, the services that host and run the site, and the law.

We never see your card

Card details are handled by our payment provider on their own systems. We receive confirmation of payment and a truncated reference, nothing more.

You can ask for a copy

Email us and we will send you what we hold, correct anything wrong, delete it, or stop sending you marketing.

Analytics is aggregate

We use it to see which pages get used and improve the site, not to identify you personally.

What we collect and why

When you place an order

To sell and ship product we collect your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, the items you bought, and the IP address the order came from. We need this to take payment, ship the goods, handle sales tax, answer questions about the order later, and meet our record-keeping obligations.

We do not store your full card number. Card details are handled by our payment provider on their own systems. We receive only confirmation that payment succeeded and a truncated reference such as the last four digits and the card type.

When you create an account

We store your name, email address, password (encrypted, never in readable form), and your saved addresses and order history, so you can reorder without re-entering everything.

When you use a form on the site

Contact forms, sample requests, training enquiries and the email signup collect the details you type in, usually your name, email address, phone number and your message. Submissions are emailed to our team and are also stored in this site’s database so we can follow up. We use them to answer you and, if you asked to hear from us, to send occasional product and training updates. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link.

When you leave a comment

We collect what the comment form shows, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which help us catch spam. An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you have a profile picture. Gravatar’s own privacy policy applies to that check.

When you simply browse

We use analytics and advertising services to understand which pages get used and where visitors arrive from. They set cookies and record things like the pages you view, roughly where you are (city or region level, derived from your IP address), and what browser and device you use. We use this in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify you personally. Each service is named in Analytics and advertising below.

Images you upload

If you upload a photo to the site, be aware that images can carry embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors can download an image and read that data, so strip it first if it matters to you.

Cookies

We use cookies for three things:

  • Making the store work. Remembering what is in your cart and keeping you signed in through checkout. The store cannot function without these.
  • Remembering you. If you tick “remember me” at login, or opt in to saving your details on the comment form, we store that choice so you do not have to type it again. Login cookies last two days, or two weeks with “remember me”. Comment cookies last a year.
  • Measurement and advertising. The analytics and advertising cookies set by the services named in the next section.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the first group, the cart and checkout will stop working.

Analytics and advertising

We use a small number of third-party services to see how the site is used and to measure our advertising. Each sets its own cookies, receives data directly from your browser, and is governed by its own privacy policy as well as this one.

  • Google Analytics. Measures which pages get used, how people arrive and what they do next. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab).
  • Google Tag Manager. A container that delivers the tags above on our behalf. It collects nothing of its own; it is how the others are loaded.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram). Measures what our advertising produces and lets us show ads to people who have already visited the site. Advanced matching is switched on, which means that when you submit a form or place an order, a scrambled version of details such as your email address and phone number is sent to Meta so it can match you to an account. Meta receives the scrambled value, not the plain text. See the Meta Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).

If you would rather not be measured:

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. This is the one control that covers all of them.
  • Install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on (opens in a new tab).
  • Change your Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.

Content embedded from other sites

Some pages embed video, maps or other content hosted elsewhere. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other site: it can set its own cookies, run its own tracking, and record your interaction with the embed. We do not control what those services collect.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to run the business:

  • Our payment provider, to take and verify payment.
  • Shipping carriers, to deliver your order.
  • Service providers who host the site, send our email, or provide analytics, and who may only use the data to provide that service to us.
  • Analytics and advertising platforms, as described in Analytics and advertising. This includes a scrambled version of your email address and phone number being sent to Meta when you submit a form or place an order.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we keep it

  • Orders and invoices: for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and afterwards as warranty and support history.
  • Account details: until you ask us to delete the account.
  • Form submissions and enquiries: while the enquiry is live and for a reasonable period afterwards for follow-up.
  • Comments: indefinitely, so follow-up comments from the same person can be approved automatically.

What you can ask us to do

Email Success@sealnlock.com and we will action any of the following:

  • Send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your personal information, except records we are legally required to keep, such as completed order and tax records.
  • Stop sending you marketing email. You can also use the unsubscribe link in any of them.
  • Stop the analytics and advertising services measuring you. The controls are listed under Analytics and advertising.

If you have an account you can see and edit most of this yourself under My Account.

How we protect it

The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Passwords are stored encrypted. Access to order and customer data is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute protection, but if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you as required by law.

Children

This is a trade site aimed at contractors and businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
